Hello
Hello, I’m Crystal.
Founder of Make Art Studio.
I believe creativity is not just something we do — it’s something we remember.
Make Art Studio was created as a space where hands-on making, self-expression, and community come together. Here, art isn’t about perfection or talent. It’s about slowing down, trying something new, and feeling proud of what you create with your own two hands.
Through pop-up workshops for adults and creative programs for kids (Make Art Club), I help people reconnect with their imagination, build confidence through making, and experience the joy of creating something unique and handmade.
Whether you’re joining a sewing workshop, a crochet class, or a creative program for children, you’re not just learning a skill — you’re joining a creative community rooted in expression, connection, and growth.

My Story
Making is in my blood.
My story begins with two remarkable women — my grandmothers.
One was a Southern seamstress and sharecropper in Tennessee, a mother of seven who sewed dresses inspired by Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, built furniture from scrap wood, and grew an heirloom garden from the soil. She taught me how to make something beautiful out of nothing — with elegance, care, and a quiet strength.
The other was a New York City fashionista and businesswoman who never left home without red lipstick, a chic hat, and high heels. She was bold, independent, and deeply stylish — teaching me that creativity and confidence go hand in hand.
I carry both of them with me.
From sewing clothes for my dolls as a child, to designing garments for my daughters, building an igloo with my son, to starting an arts-based after-school program, making has always been my constant. It was the one thing I could return to in every season of life.
After a major life transition, I turned back to what I knew best: creating. I began teaching workshops wherever I could — in homes, classrooms, and community spaces — sharing sewing, crafting, and hands-on art with people who thought they “weren’t creative.”
That is how Make Art Studio was born.
Today, Make Art Studio is more than a place to learn crafts. It is a movement rooted in the belief that everyone is an artist, and that creativity builds confidence, connection, and community.
Through Make Art Studio, I offer creative workshops for adults and youth programs through Make Art Club — helping people of all ages rediscover the joy of making, expressing themselves, and creating something that cannot be bought in a store.
My dream is to grow Make Art Studio into a thriving creative brand with both virtual and in-person experiences, meaningful partnerships, and a community of makers who proudly say, “I made this.”
Welcome to Make Art Studio.
Where creativity meets community — one stitch, one brushstroke, and one handmade moment at a time.
— Crystal
